Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between the settings?
They change the size of the photo and how much it is compressed. “Web” suits a website or social media, “Email” an attachment, “Form” an application, and “Print” keeps enough detail to print on A4.
Is the GPS location of my photos kept?
No. A photo’s hidden data (location, camera model) is removed when it is compressed. The screen tells you what was removed.
What if a photo is already very light?
If the compressed version would be heavier, the tool keeps the original and tells you.
Are my files uploaded anywhere?
No. Everything happens in your browser, on your device. No file ever leaves your phone or computer: you can even turn off the network before you start, and the tool works just the same.
Are my original files changed?
Never. The tool reads your files and gives you a copy to download. The originals stay untouched.
Do I need an account?
No. There is no account, no cookie and no ads.
